Bio
Hailing from California’s beautiful central coast, David is an energetic and creative young saxophonist and composer. While growing up in California he studied classical clarinet, performing in various school bands and honor bands and touring Europe with the San Louis Obispo Youth Symphony Orchestra as the featured clarinet soloist in George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue.” During this time he also began to develop as a jazz musician, playing with the Cuesta College Jazz Band and at gigs in local venues.
David attended the renown University of North Texas where he earned his BA in Jazz Arranging. Throughout his college experience, he played in a huge assortment of student ensembles on campus studying styles ranging from Duke Ellington to Tower of Power. He also gigged in various professional groups throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area and taught clarinet, saxophone, flute and piano lessons.
Now David is living and playing in the Seattle area and is actively involved in a wide range of projects including composing and playing in The Dave Dolengewicz Trio and with the Jazz Police big band.
