Dave Dolengewicz Trio Bandcamp site is activated.
After an evening of uploading and tweaking the Dave Dolengewicz Trio bandcamp site is now up and running. So far I’ve only uploaded our Basement Demo, but I have future plans to start releasing live concert recordings on a regular basis. I liken this to the live radio broadcasts that were instrumental in getting jazz in the ears of the American people during the height of the “Jazz Age.” This will have several advantages as well as pose several challenges. Advantages include: offering concertgoers a piece of the evening they can take with them, having a large and constantly changing catalog with no overhead can’t hurt our potential profits, and in order to keep quality up we will be forced to keep it fresh (ie. people will have proof if we start playing the same solos night after night). On the challenge side however, “keeping it fresh” is no easy feat, and I still have to figure out what the copyright laws are pertaining to selling recordings of copyrighted standards on a name-your-price basis. Until I do, I’ll only be posting original tracks.
Bandcamp is a site that helps little guys like me offer their music to the public on a name-your-price basis. The best part is that Bandcamp.com doesn’t take a cut (yet). Paypal fees, however, still apply. I encourage anyone who wants to put their music out there in an easy and professional way to check out bandcamp.
